Job Description
G&H Marine Inc. Structural Welder / Marine Construction This is NOT a shop welding job. If you're looking to stand at a welding table all day, this isn't the position for you. At G&H Marine, we build docks, marinas, seawalls, boat lifts, and heavy marine structures throughout Illinois and surrounding states. Every project is different, and nearly all welding is performed in the field . What We're Looking For You need to be someone who: Has real SMAW welding experience Can consistently produce quality structural welds in the field Doesn't mind physical labor Shows up every day ready to work Can travel when projects require it Takes pride in doing quality work Works well with a crew and follows direction A valid driver's license is required. Construction or marine experience is a plus. What You'll Actually Be Doing This job is a combination of structural welding and construction labor. On any given day you may be: Field welding structural steel using SMAW (7018 rod) Install, fit, and weld structural steel components on active construction sites Carrying steel, lumber, hardware, and equipment Operating grinders, torches, generators, power tools, forklifts, and construction equipment Working from barges, docks, lifts, or around water Traveling to job sites throughout Illinois and surrounding states Working outdoors in the heat, cold, rain, mud, and snow If you're looking for an easy welding job in a climate-controlled shop, this isn't it. Attendance Matters Our customers depend on us, and so does the rest of the crew. Be at work, on time, every day. If you have attendance problems, this isn't the place for you. One no-call/no-show results in immediate termination. No exceptions. Physical Requirements You must be able to: Lift 50+ pounds repeatedly Climb, kneel, bend, and work on uneven surfaces Work at heights and around or over water Work outside in all weather conditions Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Health insurance after 60 days 401(k) with 4% company match after 90 days Paid Time Off (1 hour earned for every 40 hours worked) Year-round work with an established company that's been building marine structures for over 30 years
