Fabrication Weld Technician Classification:

Fabrication Reports to: Supervisor /
Foreman Position Summary:
Fabricate new production related items for the Forging and EP departments by means of welding (MIG). Associates will also repair these production related items.
Key Responsibilities:
Verify integrity of data through the confirmation of sign offs on process documentation. Maintain sanctity of the workspace through the enforcement of 5s principles. Maintains safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations. Cut, shape, and trim material to specified lengths or shapes utilizing grinders, iron worker, and other various hand tools. Read blueprints to build various items. Inspect all items for various defects. Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements (PM), troubleshooting minor maintenance issues, and calling for repairs. Accomplishes departmental goals by taking ownership of the welding process. Perform other duties as needed.
Skills & Competencies:
Ability to perform all assigned tasks, work independently, and complete work on schedule. Follow Supervisors/Foreman direction while displaying cooperative and positive behavior with co-workers. Ability to develop and execute detailed daily plans. Strong Problems solving skills and efficient management of time and resources.
Education & Experience:
Associate degree in welding or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. High School Diploma or GED Prior experience in metals manufacturing/fabrication environment. (3-5) Years experience in welding or related field. Previous welding experience (operation/programming).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Sit/Stand/Walk 8 hrs./day. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Monday - Friday Willing to work in hot/humid, cold and noisy manufacturing environments.
