Fitter Location:

Job Summary:
A Fitter is responsible for keeping accurate records of maintenance work, repairing, and evening out rough spots on fabricated components using grinders, hand files, and scrapers. The work schedule is Monday through Friday; weekends and overtime will be assigned as needed. Openings are available on both first and second shifts: 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. What you'll get: 9 paid holidays. Paid time off. What you'll do: Assemble materials and components. Read prints and create layouts of parts. Grind materials using a grinder and other hand tools. Collaborate with other Fitters on large-scale projects. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Work in confined spaces and at heights using fall protection. Perform work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and fabrication tasks. What you'll need: High school diploma or GED preferred. Ability to cut and wash using a cutting torch to crop and renew material. Previous towboat and barge repair or construction experience. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive work in varying conditions. Strong attention to detail. Valid Driver's License.
