Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Combo Welder/Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both welding and fitting tasks on various metal components, ensuring precise assembly and fabrication according to technical drawings and specifications. Your expertise will contribute to the successful completion of construction projects, metal manufacturing, and custom fabrication jobs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse materials, including sheet metal and structural steel, utilizing a variety of welding techniques and hand tools. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to maintaining high safety standards on the job site and in the shop. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding and fitting requirements. Perform welding using multiple techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Fit, align, and assemble metal components using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, power tools, hand tools, and measuring tapes to ensure precision. Use plasma cutters, gas metal arc welding equipment, and other machining tools for cutting, shaping, and fabricating sheet metal and structural parts. Measure materials accurately with shop math skills to ensure proper fit-up before welding or assembly. Adhere strictly to safety protocols while operating machinery, handling materials, or working at construction sites or fabrication shops. Collaborate with team members on construction sites or in the shop environment to complete projects efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections conducted, and materials used throughout each project phase. Qualifications Proven construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Hands-on experience with crane operation or working around cranes is a plus. Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting mechanical drawings accurately. Skilled in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other precision tools.
