Job Description

About the Role As a Marine Structural Fabricator, you will play a critical role in the assembly and construction of complex marine vessels by transforming raw metal components into precise structural frameworks. Your technical expertise in blueprint interpretation and metal preparation ensures the integrity and durability of large-scale maritime projects. Responsibilities Interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and layout specifications to guide precise assembly. Align, fit, and secure structural components to construct the framework of ships and barges. Prepare metal surfaces by measuring, cutting, and grinding components to exact tolerances for final welding. Operate a variety of shipyard equipment, including power tools, hand tools, and cutting torches, to facilitate efficient fabrication. Execute tack welding to hold assemblies in place, ensuring structural accuracy before final completion. Maintain a high standard of craftsmanship to ensure all vessel components meet rigorous maritime safety and quality requirements. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience in structural fitting or heavy metal fabrication within a shipyard or industrial environment. Advanced ability to read and interpret detailed engineering blueprints and schematics. Proficiency with manual and power tools, including grinders, cutting torches, and measuring instruments. Strong understanding of metal properties and structural alignment techniques. Preferred Skills Experience with various welding processes or tack welding certifications. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, large-scale industrial setting. Familiarity with marine-grade materials and industry-specific fabrication standards.
