Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and motivated Combo Welder/Fitter to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing both welding and fitting tasks to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal components and structures. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint reading, and mechanical fabrication will be essential to ensure high-quality craftsmanship that meets safety and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects in a fast-paced environment where precision, safety, and teamwork are paramount. Responsibilities Interpret detailed mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately guide welding and fitting processes. Perform welding operations using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques on various metal materials including sheet metal and structural steel. Measure and mark materials precisely using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure accurate cuts and assemblies. Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components. Fit metal parts together with mechanical knowledge of ductwork, assembly procedures, and fabrication standards to achieve optimal alignment. Adhere strictly to safety protocols while working on construction sites or in fabrication shops, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while maintaining quality standards aligned with AWS (American Welding Society) guidelines. Qualifications Proven construction site experience or fabrication shop experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints accurately. Hands-on experience with welding techniques including
FCAW, MIG
welding, TIG welding, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Ability to use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools effectively. Mechanical knowledge related to ductwork, assembly, machining, plasma cutting, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with construction experience involving crane operation or working at heights is a plus. Strong understanding of safety protocols and adherence to OSHA standards during all phases of work. Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, fabricating equipment, and measuring devices confidently. Excellent shop math skills for precise measurements and calculations necessary for fabrication tasks. $25.57 - $30.80 per hour
