In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding operations using Metal Inert Gas (MIG) techniques to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal components. Your expertise will ensure that all welds meet industry standards and project specifications, contributing to the successful completion of diverse manufacturing and construction projects. Responsibilities Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements. Perform MIG welding using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding) process on various metal materials, including sheet metal and structural components. Prepare workpieces by measuring with calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate fit-up before welding. Use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal parts. Follow safety protocols diligently while handling welding equipment, gases, and mechanical tools to maintain a safe work environment. Conduct quality inspections of welds according to AWS (American Welding Society) standards and project specifications. Assist with fabrication shop tasks such as rigging, pipe threading, assembly, and metal material handling as needed. Skills Extensive experience with MIG welding (Gas Metal Arc Welding) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), with a strong understanding of TIG welding as a bonus. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and interpreting mechanical blueprints for fabrication projects. Mechanical knowledge related to fabrication shop processes, including machining, plasma cutting, pipe threading, and assembly. Ability to use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements. Familiarity with construction site practices and safety protocols essential for working on active job sites. Strong understanding of metal materials such as sheet metal and structural steel used in manufacturing environments. Experience with rigging techniques and the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices for accurate fabrication.
