  • Position Title:
    Structural Steel Fabricator
  • Location:
  • Grand Rapids, 49507
  • Pay:
    $22.00 / hour on 2
  • nd•Shift•Trains first shift 5:00 AM - 4/4:30 PM Monday-Friday for ~ 30 days Training Pay is $20.

  • Position Overview
  • We are seeking an individual with hands-on experience in fabricating both structural steel components and miscellaneous metal parts, particularly with demonstrated abilities in layout, welding, and working with stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel. A background indicating at least two to three years in the field is preferred.
  • Core Duties
  • + Assist with positioning, lifting, and removing materials on conveyors and bunks to facilitate fitting and welding operations; should be comfortable handling up to 50 pounds.
+ Utilize a tape measure to accurately establish reference points during layout tasks. + Manage the loading, stacking, and movement of materials, equipment, and in-process items either manually or with a crane. + Competently operate all equipment within the yard. + Use chains and clamps to secure pieces prior to crane or jib movements. + Prepare workpieces for fabrication, welding, painting, or shipment by cleaning and grinding surfaces. + Collect and dispose of scrap from job areas. + Perform regular cleaning of workstations, equipment, and tools. + Operate overhead cranes as required. + Hold or be able to obtain welding certifications for carbon steel processes (MIG and SMAW). Experience with TIG welding for stainless steel and aluminum is desirable. + Effectively interpret blueprints. + Expected to be proactive, meticulous, and able to work collaboratively within a team setting. + Possess sound reading and mathematical skills. + Strong analytical abilities, comfort with mechanical tasks, and good manual skills are considered advantages. + Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English. + Exhibit effective communication and interpersonal abilities. + Capable of undertaking tasks independently with minimal supervision.
