Locations in Detroit and Sterling Heights Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Welder specializing in MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding to join our manufacturing and fabrication team. This role involves working on diverse projects that require precise metal joining, fabrication, and assembly in accordance with established safety protocols and industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive mechanical knowledge, proficiency with various measuring instruments, and experience interpreting technical drawings to ensure high-quality welds on a variety of metal materials, including sheet metal and structural components.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform MIG and TIG welding on a wide range of metal materials, ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings accurately Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to verify dimensions and tolerances Prepare materials through cutting, plasma cutting, pipe threading, and rigging as needed for fabrication tasks Operate power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment safely and efficiently in a shop or construction site environment Fabricate components by measuring, marking, cutting, welding, and assembling parts according to specifications Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to strict safety protocols at all times Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while ensuring quality standards are met Conduct inspections of welds using appropriate measuring instruments to verify integrity and compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards Support continuous improvement initiatives by adhering to best practices in mechanical fabrication and metalworking Qualifications Proven experience in construction site environments or manufacturing facilities involving metal fabrication Proficiency with MIG welding (GMAW), TIG welding (GTAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and FCAW processes Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and shop math Familiarity with using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, hand tools, power tools, and plasma cutters Experience working with sheet metal fabrication, structural steel, piping, and metal materials Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately for fabrication and assembly purposes Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, pipe threading, machining, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques Understanding of safety protocols relevant to welding operations on construction sites or in fabrication shops Basic math skills necessary for precise measurements and calculations during fabrication tasks Knowledge of AWS standards for welding quality assurance is preferred Excellent attention to detail combined with strong communication skills If you are committed to precision craftsmanship in a dynamic environment where safety is paramount, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding opportunity.
