Job Description

Job Title:
Turret Operator Job Description This role involves learning to operate turret machines in a clean, modern sheet metal fabrication facility. You will load sheet metal into the machines, inspect parts for quality, and progressively learn how to set up the equipment. As you develop your skills and become capable of machine setup, you will take on more advanced tasks, including exposure to basic programming of the equipment. Responsibilities Load sheet metal into turret and related fabrication machines in a safe and efficient manner. Inspect parts produced by the machines to ensure they meet quality and specification requirements. Learn and apply proper machine setup procedures under guidance, including adjusting tools and settings. Read and interpret blueprints to understand part specifications and fabrication requirements. Assist with operating press brake, punch press, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment as needed. Monitor machine performance during operation and report any issues or irregularities promptly. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety and efficiency. Follow all safety procedures and shop guidelines while working on the production floor. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines. Gradually learn the basic programming aspects of the machines as skills progress. Essential Skills At least 6 months of machine operating experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Ability to learn and operate turret machines and related sheet metal fabrication equipment. Basic blueprint reading skills to understand part dimensions and requirements. Experience or familiarity with machine operation in areas such as press brake, punch press, or similar equipment. Ability to perform visual inspections and identify obvious defects or quality issues. Willingness to learn machine setup procedures and follow detailed instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Ability to work effectively on a production floor and follow safety protocols. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes is a plus. Familiarity with turret, press brake, punch press, and laser equipment is beneficial. Interest in learning basic machine programming for fabrication equipment. Ability to work independently once trained while also collaborating well within a team. Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to troubleshoot basic machine issues under guidance. Work Environment The role is based in a wide-open, well-organized sheet metal fabrication shop equipped with seven new press brake machines, eight welding bays, and additional fabrication equipment such as turret, punch press, and laser machines. The facility features new lighting and tall inventory shelving that reaches the ceiling, contributing to a bright, orderly, and efficient workspace. The shop is clean and well taken care of, reflecting a focus on safety and equipment care. This position operates on 2nd shift, working on the production floor around active machinery in a manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Arlington, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $54080.00/yr. great company benefits at DMC.
