POSITION SUMMARY A
Sign Fabricator/Welder manufactures, assembles, and repairs custom commercial signs and structural sign components. This role involves welding, metal fabrication, reading blueprints, operating shop equipment, and assisting with production and installation projects. The sign fabricator has experience with MIG/TIG welding, fabrication tools, and working in a fast-paced production environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fabricate and assemble custom signs, frames, cabinets, poles, and structural components Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on aluminum, steel, and stainless steel Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders Operate fabrication equipment including saws, brakes, shears, grinders, and drills Measure, cut, fit, and finish materials to specifications Assist with sign installation and field repairs when needed Maintain quality standards and ensure accurate production Follow OSHA and company safety procedures Maintain clean and organized work areas Collaborate with production, design, and installation teams to meet deadlines Must follow all hot work safety procedure
REQUIREMENTS SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in welding, metal fabrication, or sign manufacturing Proficiency in MIG welding required; TIG experience is a plus Ability to read technical drawings/blueprints and use measuring tools accurately Experience working with aluminum and steel fabrication Ability to lift 50 pounds (lbs) and stand for extended periods Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and reach overhead Ability to climb ladders and work at heights greater than six feet Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• OSHA 10 or welding certification • Forklift or crane experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work performed in a manufacturing and fabrication facility Environment may be dusty, containing welding fumes, noise, and non-temperature controlled Exposure to adhesives, chemicals, and fabrication equipment Regular exposure to hot work environments, including welding, cutting, grinding, and metal fabrication operations Machine guarding and pinch point precautions Use of PPE including safety shoes, welding helmets, gloves, and safety glasses required Other required PPE as needed- gloves for material handling, face shield for saw operations, hard hat for crane operations, or goggles/face shield for chemical transfer
