Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Steel Worker to join our manufacturing and construction teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing metal components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints to guide fabrication and assembly processes. Operate various hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math calculations to ensure accurate measurements. Perform welding using multiple techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Use plasma cutting, fabrication shop equipment, and machining tools to shape and assemble sheet metal and other metal materials. Read and interpret construction plans and technical drawings to facilitate precise fabrication and installation. Adhere strictly to safety protocols on construction sites and within fabrication shops to maintain a safe working environment. Operate forklifts and other machinery as required for material handling and project logistics. Assist in the assembly of structural components on-site or within fabrication facilities. Maintain accurate records of work performed, measurements taken, and materials used. Collaborate with team members across manufacturing or construction projects to meet project deadlines efficiently. Skills Extensive construction site experience with a solid understanding of safety procedures. Proficiency in operating cranes, forklifts, plasma cutters, machining equipment, and power tools. Strong ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret mechanical blueprints accurately. Skilled in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, with knowledge of AWS standards. Competence in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise fabrication. Mechanical knowledge related to metal materials, sheet metal fabrication, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and manufacturing processes. Experience with fabrication shop environments involving metal fabrication and mechanical assembly. Familiarity with construction experience involving structural steel installation or related activities. Ability to perform basic math calculations necessary for measurements and fabrication tasks. Knowledge of safety protocols relevant to welding, machining, lifting operations, and construction activities.
