Metal Works is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Erection Foreman to join our growing team. We are looking for a motivated leader with a strong background in structural steel erection who can successfully manage field operations, lead crews, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. About Us L.J. Metal Works is based in Wilmington, North Carolina, and specializes in structural steel fabrication and erection. We work on projects throughout North Carolina and surrounding states, offering exciting opportunities for individuals who enjoy travel and working on a variety of challenging projects. Position Overview The Structural Steel Erection Foreman will be responsible for overseeing field crews, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring projects are executed efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This is a travel-heavy position requiring flexibility and the ability to work at various project locations throughout the region. Responsibilities Supervise and lead structural steel erection crews on commercial and industrial projects. Read and interpret structural and architectural blueprints. Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to keep projects on schedule. Ensure projects remain within established budgets and timelines. Identify and resolve field issues through effective problem-solving. Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and customers. Conduct daily planning and oversee quality control throughout the erection process. Monitor crew productivity and provide leadership and direction in the field. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural steel erection. Previous experience as a Foreman or Crew Leader preferred. Strong knowledge of steel erection processes, rigging practices, and jobsite safety. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in the field. Willingness to travel extensively throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. What We Offer Competitive pay based on experience.
