Competitive Shift Differential Fit and assemble structural framework, components and materials in various shapes, sizes and designs such as but not limited to: angle, I beam and other steel components in compliance with the corporate mission and values, and departmental financial objectives.Essential Functions:
- Layout, position, align and fit together the fabricated parts of structural components according to shop drawings or prints and layout specifications;
- Operate cutting and heating torches;
- Check camber and sweep tolerances of girders and beams and be able to effectively make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications;
- Tack weld in all positions using multiple welding processes;
- Grind parts, torque bolts and operate mechanical and manual cutting equipment;
- Produce a finished product that meets recognized standards, codes and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practices;
- Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly;
- Identify potential hazards and make necessary corrections;
- Assist in training efforts and be able to mentor other employees;
- Work in a safe, professional and conscientious manner;
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective professional and courteous manner with customers, coworkers, clients and supervisors;
- Ability to understand welding procedures;
- Able to read and interpret weld symbols on shop drawings and prints;
- Able to read and interpret complex shop drawings and prints and apply information accordingly.
- High school diploma or GED preferred;
- Experience and/or training or equivalent or the combination of education and experience;
- Must possess exceptional reading and mathematical skills.
