Steel Erection Pay:
$25-$30 per hour
Locations:
Salem, NH Rowley, MA Berlin, NH We are seeking skilled Iron Workers. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with structural steel fabrication and erection, strong layout skills, the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, and the ability to consistently produce quality welds to specification.
Responsibilities & Required Skills:
Read and accurately interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications. Perform precise layout, fit-up, fabrication, and welding of structural steel components. Use measuring and layout equipment including tape measures, framing squares, protractors, lasers, levels, and other precision tools. Apply a strong working knowledge of geometry and algebra to calculate dimensions, angles, offsets, and layouts. Set up and operate welding machines and equipment safely and efficiently. Consistently produce quality welds in accordance with project specifications using one or more of the following processes: SMAW (Stick) FCAW (Flux-Cored) GMAW (MIG) Stud Welding Perform weld preparation, fit-up, preheating, welding, grinding, and finishing as required. Properly and safely use ironworker and welder tools and equipment, including: Chipping hammers Grinders Needle guns T.C. guns Oxy-acetylene torch setups Propane preheat torches Temperature measuring devices Other standard fabrication and welding equipment Safely operate shop overhead cranes and assist with the movement and positioning of steel and fabricated components. Maintain proper alignment, dimensions, tolerances, and weld quality throughout the fabrication process. Inspect work to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Follow all applicable safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an Ironworker, Welder, Structural Welder, or Fabricator. Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding specifications. Solid understanding of welding processes and equipment. Strong layout and measurement skills. Good mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of geometry and algebra. Ability to safely operate welding equipment, cutting and grinding tools, overhead cranes, and other shop equipment. Ability to work safely and efficiently in a structural steel fabrication environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Equal Employer Opportunity SWNE1
