MetalWorks Classic Auto Restoration is looking for an experienced Hot Rod Builder / Metal Fabricator to join our team. We build high-end classic cars, Pro-Touring style cars, custom trucks, and one-off vehicles for customers who expect exceptional craftsmanship. Our projects include complete restorations, custom chassis builds, body swaps, LS/LT-powered cars, hand-fabricated bodywork and fully modernized ground-up builds. This is not a production auto-body job . We are looking for a true automotive craftsman —someone who enjoys figuring out how to build something correctly, takes pride in the details, and wants to work on some of the coolest classic vehicles in the country. Sans major upholstery, MetalWorks handles all areas of our builds in-house, including chassis, fabrication, bodywork, paint, mechanical assembly and final vehicle assembly. Our current projects include vehicles built around Art Morrison and Roadster Shop chassis , and often include completely custom fabrication needs. What You'll Be Doing Depending on your experience and skill set, your responsibilities may include: Complete hot rod and Pro Touring vehicle construction Custom sheet-metal fabrication and metal shaping Fabricating and installing floor pans, transmission tunnels, inner fenders and other structural components Repairing and modifying original classic-car sheet metal Hand-forming and fitting custom body panels TIG and MIG welding Chassis and suspension installation Body-to-chassis fitment and alignment Custom fabrication of brackets, mounts and structural components Custom exhaust fabrication Firewall and transmission tunnel fabrication Roll cage and structural fabrication Engine and drivetrain installation and fitment Suspension and brake installation Custom one-off fabrication Metal finishing and weld cleanup Working from drawings, measurements and your own fabrication concepts Disassembling, modifying and reassembling vehicles throughout the build process Maintaining extremely high standards of fit, finish and craftsmanship Our fabrication capabilities include hand-built body panels, TIG-welded components, custom floors, roll cages and specialized metalworking using equipment such as a Pullmax, Sheetmetal Breaks, Various Sanders, Cutting equipment, and your own tool chest. The Person We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who can look at a vehicle and say: "I know how I would build that." You should have a strong understanding of classic cars and custom vehicle construction, along with the ability to work independently and solve problems without needing to be told every step. Most Important:

We are looking for craftsmanship and efficiency. A person who can fabricate a beautiful part but doesn't understand how it needs to fit into the entire vehicle including consideration of the build scope as it relates to time investment, isn't the right person for this position. Likewise, we're looking for someone who cares about the end result and as much as the details.

Qualifications Required:

You'll work on one-off vehicles where the solution may have to be fabricated rather than purchased . Our projects range from traditional restorations to modern Pro Touring builds and complete custom vehicles. We currently have a portfolio of projects including Pro Touring Corvettes, Camaros, Chevelles, Novas, trucks, Mustangs, Pontiacs and other classic vehicles. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced builders and develop your skills across multiple areas of high-end vehicle construction.
