Summary:
The laborer will be responsible for processing and sorting of scrap metal, baling material in a baler, as well as greeting and receiving in material from customers as efficiently as possible while promoting an environmentally compliant and accident-free workplace. The general laborer may also perform any additional duties on the job site as they are needed. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of scrap metal and must be comfortable working on their feet in outdoor conditions. Responsibilities:
Grade and sort non-ferrous material to ensure the highest profitability possible. Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures Ensure a safe and productive work environment for all employees and customers Move material within plant to prepare for shipment out Perform some paperwork such as tagging of product and recording material type on receipts Perform general maintenance and upkeep of working area which includes picking up scrap metal debris, sweeping, shoveling and general clean-up of any area and/or equipment Keep grounds clear of debris and maintain safety standards Operate small equipment with potential to operate larger industrial equipment and assist with maintenance of machines Other duties as assigned by the yard manager Requirements Ability to manage personal responsibilities in a fast-paced, non-stop environment while providing excellent customer service Ability to adapt to frequent changes of priority and complete job tasks safely and effectively without constant supervision Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency and have a willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed Manual dexterity to handle tools and the ability to move 50 pounds as well as constant standing, walking, bending, and stretching are required regularly to perform job Willingness to work in shop area and an out-of-doors environment in all types of weather
