Job Description

Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator Location:
Arlington, TN Pay Rate:
Starting at $21/hr, higher depending on experience, plus a 10% shift differential for 2nd shift
Shift:
1st & 2nd Shift Available | Some Saturdays Required Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator for a fast-paced fabrication shop. The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, fitting structural steel components, using fabrication equipment, and safely handling heavy materials. Responsibilities Read and interpret structural steel blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and layout specifications Fit and fabricate structural steel components, including beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals Perform layout, measuring, cutting, and assembly using proper fabrication techniques Operate equipment such as ironworkers, mag drills, band saws, grinders, oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other shop tools Tack, fit, and prepare structural steel assemblies for welding and final production Safely operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and material handling equipment Check dimensions, alignment, squareness, and fit-up for accuracy before welding and final assembly Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while meeting production schedules Requirements 2+ years of structural steel fitting/fabrication experience preferred Ability to read and interpret structural steel blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings Experience with structural layout, fit-up, and fabrication processes Knowledge of fabrication tools, measuring devices, and shop equipment Ability to work with heavy materials and stand for extended periods Overhead crane and rigging experience preferred Strong attention to detail, safety, and teamwork Preferred Qualifications Experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) in a structural steel fabrication environment Ability to produce strong, clean FCAW welds on structural steel components Experience welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions using FCAW We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
