In this role, you will be responsible for executing precise welding and assembly of structural metal components, ensuring all work meets strict safety standards and quality specifications. Your expertise in various welding techniques and mechanical blueprint interpretation will be essential in delivering durable, high-quality structures for diverse construction projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects that require technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a proactive safety mindset. Duties Read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine welding requirements and procedures. Perform welding operations using FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) techniques on structural steel, sheet metal, and other metal materials. Measure and mark materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and welds. Operate power tools, plasma cutters, gas metal arc welding equipment, and other fabrication machinery to cut, shape, and assemble metal components. Use hand tools and mechanical fabrication techniques to assemble structures according to blueprints while adhering to safety protocols at all times. Conduct quality inspections of welds and fabricated parts using calipers, measuring instruments, and visual testing to ensure compliance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the fabrication shop while following all safety procedures related to construction site experience. Requirements Proven experience working on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including
FCAW, MIG
welding, TIG welding, and SMAW with demonstrated ability to meet AWS standards. Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and technical specifications accurately. Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and the use of measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, shop math, and measuring tapes. Mechanical knowledge of structural steel components, sheet metal fabrication, assembly processes, machining operations, plasma cutting, and use of power tools. Experience working with crane operations or understanding crane safety is a plus but not mandatory. Strong attention to detail with excellent hand tool skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings effectively.
