Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Structural Fitter to lay out, align, cut, and fit structural steel components like beams, columns, and frames according to blueprints. You will use shop tools and tack welding to build precise metal assemblies. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that require mechanical knowledge, fabrication skills, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be energetic, proactive, and committed to maintaining high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced environment. Job Duties Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and weld symbols. Lay out, position, align, and fit metal parts using squares, tape measures, and levels. Operate shop equipment like grinders, saws, torches, and ironworkers. Perform tack welding to secure parts before final welding. Move heavy materials safely using overhead cranes and rigging. Check work accuracy against strict quality and safety rules. Collaborate with team members on construction site or fabrication shop projects to ensure timely completion while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work area while following strict safety procedures at all times. Requirements 3 + years of structural fitting or steel fabrication experience. Strong skill in reading blueprints and technical diagrams. Ability to use precision measuring tools and hand tools. Ability to pass a hands-on fit-up test. Physical strength to lift 50 lbs, stand, bend, and work in a heavy shop environment. (Welding techniques including FCAW and stick welding is a PLUS) Workplace transfer availability: Houston, TX.
