for a Welding Shop Assistant / Floater!

AM Position Overview:

The Welding Shop Assistant / Floater will receive and clean unfinished products from fabricators, welders, and machine operators. These products are prepared for other stations in the shop or shipped to different locations for paint, galvanizing, or installation. Work instructions will be provided orally by the Supervisor or Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities:

Remove wire stubs, slag, and spatter from welds Grind butt welds and material splices without reducing material thickness by more than 1/32" Bevel sharp corners to approximately 1/16" flat surface Report defects or mis-fabrication to Supervisor or Shop Foreman Perform minor repairs when applicable (e.g., tack welds to fix arc strikes) Clean the work area after each job Operate lift truck and pallet jack Follow oral instructions and perform all tasks safely

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent Experience with welding Must be able to operate a sit-down forklift Previous experience with hand tools preferred Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
