Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Weekend Metal Fabricator to join our manufacturing team. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, fabricating metal components, and performing welding operations to produce high-quality metal structures and parts. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with various welding techniques, and experience working in a fabrication shop environment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for skilled tradespeople to contribute to complex projects while working on weekends, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to safety standards. 3pm-1:30pm Monday-Thursday Duties Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to determine project specifications and requirements. Measure, mark, and cut sheet metal and other metal materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, plasma cutters, and power tools. Perform welding operations including MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Assemble fabricated components using hand tools, power tools, and mechanical fasteners while adhering to safety protocols. Operate cranes and pipe threading equipment to handle large or complex metal pieces safely. Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings for precise fabrication and assembly tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations at all times. Utilize shop math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control during fabrication processes. Qualifications Proven experience in metal fabrication or welding within a manufacturing or construction environment. Strong knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical diagrams accurately. Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes. Experience with plasma cutting, pipe threading, soldering, and assembly of metal components. Mechanical aptitude with basic math skills for measurements and calculations. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to fabrication practices. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, shop math, and fabrication equipment. Commitment to safety protocol adherence in all aspects of work. Previous experience working under ASTM or AWS standards is preferred. Ability to work effectively on weekends with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
