Shift:
Day and Night Shift Opportunities Available Bay Metals & Fabrication, LLC is seeking experienced First Class Shipfitters to join our growing team supporting U.S. Navy ship repair and modernization projects. This position is ideal for highly skilled tradespeople who can work independently and lead structural fitting tasks from start to finish. Position Summary The First Class Shipfitter is a highly skilled tradesperson responsible for advanced structural fitting, fabrication, and repair work aboard naval and commercial vessels. This role requires expertise in layout, alignment, and installation, as well as the ability to interpret drawings and execute work with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Perform complex layout, fitting, fabrication, and installation of structural components Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work specifications Set up and execute jobs from beginning to completion with minimal supervision Ensure proper alignment, fit-up, and structural integrity of components Use hand tools, power tools, and burning/welding equipment as required Work in compliance with NAVSEA standards and shipyard safety requirements Maintain high quality workmanship and attention to detail Demonstrate reliability, strong attendance, and a motivated work ethic Qualifications 5+ years of shipfitting experience (naval or commercial shipyard preferred) Strong knowledge of shipboard structural systems and fitting techniques Ability to work independently and lead tasks Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications Must be able to gain access to all local shipyards (DBIDS eligibility required) Physical ability to work in confined spaces, heights, and various shipboard conditions Why Join Us Competitive pay based on experience Opportunities for advancement Steady work supporting critical Navy programs Team-oriented environment focused on safety and quality Equal Employment Opportunity Bay Metals & Fabrication, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
