Role Description The Fabricator is a full-time, on-site role based in Covington, VA. This position is responsible for interpreting drawings and specifications, measuring and cutting materials, and assembling metal components using appropriate fabrication techniques. Day-to-day tasks include operating fabrication and machining equipment, performing fit-up and welding, and ensuring work meets safety, quality, and dimensional standards. The Fabricator collaborates with engineers and other shop team members to complete custom and production jobs on schedule, while maintaining a clean and organized work area. This role may also involve inspecting finished products, assisting with repairs, and supporting continuous improvement of fabrication processes. Qualifications Experience with metal fabrication processes, including cutting, forming, and assembly of steel and other metals. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders accurately. Proficiency in operating shop equipment such as saws, presses, drills, and basic machining tools. Knowledge of basic welding techniques and safe use of welding equipment (formal certifications are a plus). Understanding of shop safety practices, including proper PPE use and adherence to OSHA or equivalent standards. Strong attention to detail, quality-focused work habits, and ability to maintain precise measurements and tolerances. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers and other team members. Ability to stand, lift, and move materials as required for fabrication work; comfort working in an industrial shop environment. Prior experience in an industrial or commercial fabrication or machine shop preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in fabrication, welding, or machining is beneficial.
