Position Overview We are seeking experienced Shop Welders capable of producing high-quality structural steel fabrication in a fast-paced shop environment. Required Qualifications Experience reading and interpreting structural steel blueprints and shop drawings Strong fitting and layout experience Proficiency with MIG (GMAW) and Flux-Core (FCAW) welding Ability to fabricate, fit, and assemble structural steel with minimal supervision Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Reliable work ethic and dedication to workplace safety It's a Plus If You Have Structural steel erection, rigging or field ironworker experience Experience with SMAW (Stick) welding Experience operating shop equipment including saws, drills, punches, grinders, and other fabrication machinery Previous experience in structural steel or miscellaneous metals fabrication What You'll Do Read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints Fit, fabricate, and assemble structural steel and miscellaneous metal products Perform MIG and Flux-Core welding Verify completed work meets project specifications and quality standards Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work area Work with a team committed to delivering quality products safely and efficiently Build Your Career with Local 28 At Iron Workers Local 28, we're committed to connecting skilled craftsmen with quality union careers—not temporary jobs.
