$28.00/hour + $3.00/hour shift differential for 2nd shift — higher depending on experience Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter / Layout Technician for a shop-based fabrication position. This role focuses on structural steel layout, fitting, assembly, and quality checks. Responsibilities Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications . Complete layout, fitting, and assembly of structural steel components. Measure, mark, align, and position steel according to job requirements. Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including a track torch . Check dimensions and ensure components meet required specifications. Inspect finished work for quality, accuracy, and compliance. Work with supervisors and other team members to meet production schedules. Keep the work area safe, clean, organized, and productive. Qualifications Previous experience with structural steel fitting, layout, or fabrication . Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Hands-on experience fitting and assembling structural steel components. Ability to set up and operate a track torch . Working knowledge of welding processes, fabrication equipment, and shop tools . Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to follow established safety procedures. AWS or other welding certifications are a plus.
