The Journeyman Fabricator is the senior craft position within New Pacific Industrial's fabrication career path. This position independently plans, lays out, fits, assembles, and verifies complex structural steel and marine fabrications from engineering drawings, specifications, and production work packages. The Journeyman Fabricator sets the standard for safety, workmanship, productivity, and professionalism while helping develop less-experienced fabricators. Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, bills of material, and build plans without assistance.
• Lay out, fit, and assemble plate, structural shapes, and miscellaneous steel components to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Identify material, piece marks, orientation, weld requirements, and assembly sequence before fabrication begins.
• Select practical fabrication methods and work sequence while protecting safety, quality, schedule, and downstream work.
• Verify dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and completeness before releasing assemblies for welding or inspection.
• Operate fabrication equipment, measuring tools, overhead cranes, and rigging equipment safely and within qualification limits.
• Identify drawing, material, or dimensional discrepancies early and work with supervision, Quality, and Engineering to resolve them.
• Perform self-inspection, correct deficiencies, and maintain work that meets applicable drawings, procedures, codes, and quality requirements.
• Maintain an orderly work area and protect company tools, equipment, materials, and finished work.
• Mentor Fabricator I, II, and III employees through daily work, demonstration, and constructive feedback. Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Five or more years of heavy industrial fabrication experience; shipbuilding experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform layout, fit-up, assembly, and dimensional verification of complex fabrications.
• Ability to safely operate applicable fabrication equipment, overhead cranes, and rigging.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions, safety requirements, and company procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Advanced blueprint interpretation, structural layout, measurement, and dimensional-control skills.
• Working knowledge of fabrication sequencing, weld preparation, distortion control, and constructability.
• Ability to recognize problems, communicate them clearly, and develop practical solutions.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with supervisors, welders, quality personnel, and other trades.

• Work from ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms, and within confined or restricted spaces when required.
