Sign Metal Fabricator Job Description Join a dedicated sign fabrication team that designs and builds illuminated and non-illuminated signage for a wide range of clients, including sports organizations, hospitals, hotels, and large commercial buildings. In this role, you work hands-on with aluminum and other materials to fabricate custom sign components, using your welding and forming skills to turn design concepts and pictures into finished products. Responsibilities Fabricate custom sign components and structures from aluminum and other materials based on blueprints, drawings, and pictures of signs. Perform aluminum MIG and TIG welding to assemble and repair sign frames, panels, and structural elements. Use a press brake to form and bend aluminum plates and other materials to specified dimensions and shapes. Hand-form aluminum plates and components when needed to achieve custom shapes and finishes. Interpret visual layouts and images of signs to accurately replicate design, dimensions, and structural requirements. Fit and assemble fabricated parts, ensuring proper alignment, structural integrity, and quality of welds and joints. Apply general fabrication and welding skills to support production of illuminated and non-illuminated signage. Collaborate with team members and maintain good communication to coordinate workflow and meet project deadlines. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment. Participate in cross-training in other departments to support broader production needs and expand skills. Follow safety procedures and best practices when operating fabrication equipment and welding tools. Essential Skills Aluminum welding experience with MIG and TIG processes. Ability to fabricate custom pieces from blueprints and technical drawings. Proficiency in aluminum fabrication, including fitting and welding. Press brake experience for forming and bending metal components. Experience as an autobody fabricator or similar metal fabrication. Ability to interpret pictures and layouts of signs and translate them into accurate fabricated components. Good people skills to work effectively with team members and other departments. Consistently demonstrate a great attitude and willingness to learn and collaborate. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience fabricating agricultural equipment or similar heavy-duty metal products. Comfort working across different fabrication tasks and departments as needed. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, visually appealing finished products. Work Environment This role is based in a hands-on fabrication shop focused on producing illuminated and non-illuminated signs. The schedule follows a day shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with 5 to 10 hours of overtime on Friday as needed. The environment is production-oriented, where you spend most of your time on the shop floor, collaborating with other fabricators and occasionally supporting additional departments through cross-training. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yakima, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
