Position Summary The Steel Fitter Foreman is responsible for coordinating outside steelworker department activities related to new ship construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance projects. The Steel Fitter Foreman will provide on-site direction by monitoring work progress, offering guidance, promoting accountability, ensuring quality standards, and meeting project deadlines. This is a leadership position with direct management of up to 40 employees. Domestic travel may be required. Essential Functions Read and interpret shipbuilding drawings, structural specifications, work packages, fabrication schedules, and engineering requirements to determine material needs and work sequences Plan and oversee steel fitting, structural fabrication, assembly, alignment, and installation activities for shipboard structures, tanks, compartments, and equipment Coordinate workforce assignments, monitor production schedules, and ensure steelfitting work is completed in accordance with quality, safety, environmental, and project requirements Plan activities and overtime as needed to meet project demands Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Required Skills Strong knowledge of steel fitting methods, structural assembly, fabrication techniques, welding preparation, alignment practices, and installation procedures Ability to interpret structural drawings, shipbuilding drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements Strong understanding of shipboard steel fitting, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and installation processes Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; employee recognition and discipline; resolving employee concerns; and developing employees with the skills, competencies, and values needed to achieve Company goals. Education and Experience Journeyman, Technical or associate's degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience 2 Years of steel fitting, structural fabrication, or shipfitting experience required. 2 years of shipboard, marine, or heavy industrial steel fitting and leadership experience preferred.
