Job Description

Waste Connections is looking for a Landfill Gas Technician to join the JED Landfill t eam in St Cloud, FL. This will be a Monday - Friday position working 7am to 5pm, approximately 50-hour work week with rotating Saturdays.
Pay Range:
$22-$30+ an hour DOE Responsibilities include: Ensure landfill gas and H2S scrubber systems remain in compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations. Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the landfill gas and leachate systems. Operate a Human Machine Interface (HMI) on landfill gas and leachate control systems. Work with Region Engineer and Landfill Manager to ensure compliance. Maintain relationships with landfill employees as well as consultants, vendors, and customers generating industrial waste. Assist in landfill environmental reviews and audits. Use gas analyzers, equipment, probes, instruments to monitor gas and H2S on machines and in the field. Performing maintenance on pneumatic, electrical and other types of pumps, switches, valves, piping etc.
Position Requirements:
Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision. Work outdoors for most of the day. Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day. Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs. Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, contracts, federal, state and local regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Experience operating hand, power tools, forklift (telehandler), and man-lift. Provide on-call response to the system. Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic. Must be mechanically proficient in a variety of systems and field instruments. Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions. Ability to prepare reports at the state or local levels. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
