Landscape Architect/Project Manager This role is in-office in San Francisco, with the option to work at home 1 day/week after a positive 6-month review. About the Role This role of Landscape Architect / Project Manager is a new addition to the team. This position will lead complex landscape architecture projects from conceptual design through construction. This is a hands-on leadership role for a landscape architect who combines strong design sensibility with the technical expertise and project management skills necessary to translate ambitious ideas into successfully built work. Working closely with Studio Principals, the Landscape Architect / Project Manager will lead project teams; establish and implement design objectives; manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders; and oversee the preparation of high-quality construction documentation and construction administration. An important initial assignment for this role will be managing Fletcher Studio's contract, including the implementation of two large 3-5-acre parks, Meadow Park and Neighborhood Park. For a period of at least 24 months, the position will require a regular part-time presence in Anaheim, Orange County, CA to provide on-site project management, coordination, and construction administration for the OCVIBE project. The specific balance of on-site and remote work is still being determined, but will include weekly OAC meetings, twice-monthly site visits, and preparation of field reports. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable contributing to design discussions, directing production and technical documentation, managing client and consultant relationships, and resolving issues in the field. The role will also help strengthen the studio through mentorship, quality control, technical innovation, and staff development. Key Responsibilities Design & Project Leadership Lead landscape architecture projects through all phases, from site analysis and conceptual design through design development, construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration. Develop and advance innovative, contextually responsive design solutions that balance creativity, sustainability, functionality, constructability, budget, and client objectives. Work closely with Studio Principals to establish and maintain the design direction and objectives of assigned projects. Lead and coordinate project teams to deliver high-quality work consistent with Fletcher Studio's design standards. Conduct site analysis and research addressing ecological, cultural, technical, and contextual considerations. Contribute significantly to the design direction of projects of varying complexity, type, and scale. Project Management Manage multiple projects concurrently, establishing priorities and maintaining project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, resources, and deliverables. Serve as the project manager for Fletcher Studio's OCVIBE contract, including regular on-site coordination and project oversight in Orange County for at least the 24 months of the assignment. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary consultant teams and maintain strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Monitor project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing and proactively identify and resolve issues that could affect successful delivery. Manage monthly client invoicing with bookkeeper and administrative staff. Lead client and stakeholder meetings, presentations, and project coordination efforts. Communicate project status, decisions, risks, and next steps clearly to Studio Principals and project teams. Technical Documentation & Quality Control Lead and oversee the development of detailed construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Ensure that drawings and project documents are accurate, coordinated, comprehensive, constructible, and consistent with design intent. Review project documentation for compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, design standards, and technical specifications. Coordinate technical requirements with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners. Establish and uphold quality-control practices that support consistently high standards of design documentation and execution. Review final construction documentation and drawing sets for accuracy, coordination, and completeness. Construction Administration Lead construction administration activities and support successful implementation of projects in the field. Conduct site visits to monitor progress, evaluate conformance with design intent, and address construction-related questions and challenges. Work collaboratively with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers to resolve technical and construction issues. Review submittals, respond to RFIs and field conditions, and help ensure that project decisions maintain design and technical integrity. Monitor construction progress and proactively address issues affecting quality, schedule, budget, or design intent. Maintain clear communication with clients and project stakeholders throughout construction. Team Leadership & Studio Development Mentor junior and mid-level staff in design, project delivery, construction documentation, and construction administration. Provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and technical guidance to project team members. Foster a collaborative studio environment that encourages design excellence, accountability, innovation, and professional growth. Identify and develop training resources that strengthen technical knowledge, design capabilities, and project delivery practices across the studio. Contribute to continuous improvement of studio standards, workflows, quality-control processes, and technical resources. Help lead technical and sustainable innovation in support of Fletcher Studio's design excellence. Qualifications Professional degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or a related design discipline (MLA, BLA, BSLA, MArch, or BArch). Approximately 10+ years of professional landscape architecture experience, including significant responsibility for project leadership, construction documentation, and construction administration. Professional Landscape Architect licensure strongly preferred; California licensure is a plus. Demonstrated ability to lead landscape architecture projects from concept through construction. Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership and successfully built work. Demonstrated expertise in the preparation and oversight of detailed construction drawings and technical documentation. Proven project management skills, including management of schedules, budgets, staffing, consultants, and client relationships. Strong understanding of landscape construction, materials, detailing, constructability, and field implementation. Excellent leadership, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience presenting to and working directly with clients, stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and community members. Strong, proactive problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced studio environment. Strong graphic and design communication skills. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant design and production tools. Knowledge of California plant materials is appreciated. Compensation and Benefits Fletcher Studio is committed to providing a robust benefits package to complement compensation. In general, benefit eligibility begins at 30 hours weekly. Eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.

Very competitive compensation package commensurate with equivalent positions in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The hiring range for this role is $108,000 to $115,000 annually. 10 annual paid holidays for FT roles. Generous vacation accrual - 15 days (120 hours) that start at hire and can begin being used after a 90 day waiting period. Sick leave is accrued at the rate of one hour per 30 worked, which equates to approximately 70 hours annually for FT staff.
