Job Description
Strada, a multi-disciplinary design firm, is seeking an experienced Landscape Architect/Designer for our Pittsburgh studio. Our cross-disciplinary approach to design is immersive, human-centric, and diverse. We actively leverage the expertise and talents from the variety of disciplines within our three studios to achieve exceptional results for our clients. We look for individuals who are talented and passionate about their work and thrive as part of a dynamic design team. We seek individuals who are inspired by the transformative role of landscape in shaping communities, enriching the public realm, and connecting people to place. Candidates should bring a passion for designing across a range of scales and typologies, including residential, urban, mixed-use, commercial, public open space, and campus design, with a holistic approach to integrating landscape and architecture. The ideal candidate will offer strong leadership and relationship-building skills, a commitment to collaborative design, and a genuine enthusiasm for mentoring and cultivating the next generation of designers. Key Responsibilities
- Leading landscape architectural services in a collaborative design environment that includes architects, interior designers, and graphic designers
- Performing initial project due diligence, site analysis, zoning, and code review
- Coordinating/supporting permitting application packages for municipal, county, and state review
- Assisting in the development of designs through sketches, modeling, diagrams, and other visual formats
- Executing project documentation during all phases of design, including conceptual sketches, master planning, site layout, traffic circulation, grading, planting and irrigation, lighting, structure designs, specifications, as well as general utility planning
- Coordinating project constraints and technical details with the internal design team, external consultants, and clients
- Supporting construction administration on projects, including site visits, attending construction meetings, developing creative technical solutions, preparing drawing revisions, and reviewing project submittals
- Reviewing design documentation for quality control, accuracy, and achieving design intent
- Assisting with proposals and fostering relationships to develop new business opportunities Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities
- At least 7 years of landscape architecture experience, with active licensure in Pennsylvania preferred, but those with an ability to obtain licensure in a timely manner will also be considered
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, material selection, and applicable code requirements for varying project types and scales
- Project management skills, including budgeting, task prioritization and assignment, and scheduling
- Experience coordinating external consultants, including engineers, construction contractors, product representatives, and permitting professionals
- Ability to prepare construction-level technical documents, plans, and specifications
- Strong design sensibility and knowledge of Pennsylvania/Mid-Atlantic regional plants
- Proficiency in sketching and rendering abilities to create strong conceptual designs
- Familiarity with BIM and 3D modeling software and/or proficiency with computer-aided drafting software
- Proactive, resourceful self-starter who can multi-task and juggle multiple projects
- Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills
- Positive, open-minded, solution-oriented attitude with cooperative skills to share design ideas, communicate design intent, and collaborate within a team dynamic
- Engagement with professional organizations and/or volunteer associations Pay and Benefits The salary for this position falls in the range of $70,000 to $90,000, commensurate with education and experience, paid on a semi-monthly basis.
