Senior Landscape Designer/Senior Landscape Architect Boston, MA, USA MASS is seeking a full-time Senior Landscape Designer/Senior Landscape Architect with an emphasis on project delivery to join our team in Boston. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week spent working in the office. MASS is a mission-driven design collective that aspires toward a regenerative and transdisciplinary design culture that advances economic, social, and environmental justice from the scale of a site to the scale of a system. We believe that all communities should have agency in the design process and are seeking a passionate and experienced colleague to join our team and help lead the way. Our work has expanded to include projects in over a dozen countries in Africa and the Americas with a portfolio of design services that spans landscape architecture, architectural design, master planning, engineering, and strategic planning. We are looking for a curious, self-motivated life long learner, with a passion for the potential of landscape architecture in creating an abundant future for all. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively to tackle unique design problems around the world, and will have the creativity and judgment to meet the unique challenges each presents. We are constantly seeking to improve the way we work as well as the quality of work we produce, and this position offers great potential for candidates who want to grow with our organization.
The ideal candidate has:
7+ years of experience in all phases of the design process on a variety of scales of projects A professional degree in landscape architecture Capacity to lead a team and project across all phases of design Experience managing client and consultant expectations, developing project schedules and budgets, preparing contracts, and negotiating proposals Ability to lead interdisciplinary coordination, scheduling and leading coordination meetings, and effectively communicating with subconsultants Skills necessary to effective apply MASS methodology to diverse projects and enforce high project standards Ability to maintain flexibility and humility toward the clients and communities we serve Attention to detail, consistency and completeness & ability to meet deadlines, respond to timely project delivery Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino, Adobe Suite, and Revit. Lumion, LandFX a plus. Additional experience in food systems, climate smart design, low-carbon design, carbon sequestration and biodiversity analytics, ecology, conservation and landscape restoration or arborist, horticulturist or other certifications is desirable but not required. Expected salary range for this position is $90,000-$105,000, commensurate with experience.
