Responsibilities Operate skidder machines to extract and transport logs from the harvest site to designated loading zones with precision and safety. Follow forestry and logging safety procedures diligently to ensure a secure work environment for yourself and team members. Conduct routine equipment inspections, perform maintenance, and coordinate repairs to keep machinery in optimal condition. Assist with tree felling, tree care, and ground-based logging activities as needed, supporting overall harvesting operations. Use GPS and other navigation tools to accurately locate logging areas and optimize routes for efficiency. Collaborate with ground crews, loaders, and other heavy equipment operators to coordinate tasks seamlessly. Maintain detailed logs of daily operations, equipment usage, and safety compliance records. Experience Proven experience in the logging industry or ground-based logging operations. Strong knowledge of safety procedures. Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment such as skidders, excavators, loaders, and other forestry equipment. Mechanical knowledge for equipment repair and maintenance tasks. Familiarity with chainsaws, rigging techniques, tree trimming, and climbing safety practices. Ability to perform heavy lifting outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety standards. Prior experience with GPS systems, tree felling, tree care, and logging industry best practices is highly desirable.
