Company benefits available Job Summary Plantation Pine Products is hiring an experienced Knuckle Boom Loader Operator to work in our stationary sawmill log yard. This position is similar to a log loader operator's job in the woods, except there is no timber harvesting. The primary responsibilities are operating the loader and cutting, sorting, and merchandising pine logs for sawmill production. Responsibilities Safely operate a knuckle boom loader Unload, move, deck, and sort pine logs Identify and separate logs by diameter, length, quality, and mill specifications Cut and merchandise logs into the proper lengths Maximize usable log value while minimizing waste Maintain organized log decks and a steady flow of material to the sawmill Perform daily equipment inspections Report mechanical problems and safety concerns Keep the log yard clean, safe, and organized Communicate with sawmill employees and management Qualifications Previous knuckle boom log loader experience required Must be able to properly sort and merchandise pine logs Experience working with a logging crew or in a log yard strongly preferred Ability to safely use approved log-cutting and bucking equipment Strong understanding of equipment traffic and safe loading practices Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently Able to work outdoors in changing weather conditions Plantation Pine Products offers competitive pay and benefits for experienced operators.
