Job Description
Kember Kreative Sawmill Inc of Beaverton is looking for a sawyer/debarker/loader operator to run our state of the art sawmill equipment. Logs will go from rough timber to flooring planks. This position requires applicants to apply in person at 4144 Lyle Rd, Beaverton, MI 48612 on weekdays between 8:30am
- 5pm.
Job Responsibilities:
Operate automated lumbermill equipment from equipment consoles to saw logs into rough lumber. Saw, trim and plane rough lumber into dressed lumber of various sizes by feeding lumber into saw machinery that is calibrated to the appropriate specifications. Monitor movement of lumber on computer screens to ensure cuts are made according to specifications. Operate equipment to sort and stack lumber by length and thickness and move stacks to storage areas or drying kilns, and feed lumber through planers. Set up and adjust saw equipment and replace blades and bands using wrenches, gauges and other hand tools and perform basic maintenance and upgrades. We will provide training on using and programming all equipment, but previous sawmill experience is a must Submit to safety training and adhere to safety protocol Dependable- more reliable than spontaneous Detail oriented
- would rather focus on the details than work on the bigger picture Able to read a tape measure, pressure gauge, level and square Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work independently with little or no supervision Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Your workweek will be 50 hours per week. Monday
- Friday 7:00 am
- 5:30 pm.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Able to stand for 8 to 10 hours at a time Able to lift up to 50 lbs Exposure to continual noise daily from machines Exposure to Michigan seasonal environmentExperience:
Sawyer- 1 year required Lumber Grader
- 1 year required May be required to pass employer performance tests Understand proper quality saw standards
