Responsible for supervising the deck crew liaising between them and the Chief Officer. As Crane Operator shall be responsible for ensuring that the crane is operated within its safe working limits during operations as directed to do by the Barge Supervisor, Rigging Supervisor or Offshore Construction Supervisor and follows T-MOS crane operating procedures.Reporting lines and interactions:
Hierarchically reports to: Master Operationally reports to: Chief Officer Directly supervises: Able Seafarers Key interactions (internally, externally): Deck Officers, Barge Supervisor, Rigging Supervisor, OCS, Crane Technician, Crane Operators Job Scope (budget, management, specific criteria): Includes but not limited to:- Meet daily with the Chief Officer to plan deck maintenance
- Oversee marine cargo operations and responsible for ensuring that the areas under his/her control are safe and secure at all times
- Carry out planned maintenance and fabric maintenance requirements as directed by the Chief Officer
- Ensure the Chief Officer is informed of the maintenance progress, and of any defects or problems encountered
- Attend the helideck as Helicopter Landing Officer (if required) or as a member of helideck team during helicopter operations
- Attend forward or aft mooring station during berthing and unberthing operations, ensuring that anchors are secured when instructed to do so by the bridge
- Maintain an inventory of stores under his control and inform Chief Officer in sufficient time of any spare gear or consumables that are required
- Participate in drills, toolbox talks, job risk assessments where required
- Assist the Project crew as necessary and liaise on this with the Chief Officer
- Maintain safety standards for the crew under his/her supervision
- Assist in the fabric maintenance of accommodation areas by conducting general running repairs and maintenance in woodwork, plumbing and paint work etc.
- Shall be familiar with his/her duties in an emergency situation
- Assist vessel Chief Officer in monitoring lifting appliances, running gear, slings, shackles etc., including quarantine locker
- Function as FRB coxswain if required As Crane Operator;
- Performing a pre-use visual examination of crane to be used, complete the relevant checklist and report to the Bridge that the crane checks have been completed
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment being used and maintain the cleanliness of the working area Main accountabilities:
- Account for own activities and of those supervised to the Chief Officer
- Ensure deck crew operate in a safe manner at all times
- Recognise the ownership of health, safety and environmental control within their sphere of activity and lead by example Qualifications (professional, technical, academic):
Essential:
- STCW Certificate of Competency (COC)
- Able Seafarer
- Deck
- Unlimited
- A-II/5
- Offshore Crane Operator Stage 3 (BS7121)
Preferred:
- STCW Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats
A-VI/2-2
- Helideck Emergency Response Team Leader (HERTL OPITO) Typical background and experience required:
Essential:
- Able Seafarer experience on TechnipFMC vessels
- Compliance with TechnipFMC in-house crane standards
- Ability to drive Crane on Vessel in all expected conditions and loads
- Ability to effectively supervise a team of deck ratings
