Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as an Underground Directional Bore Operator and be at the forefront of innovative underground utility installation! In this energetic role, you will operate specialized directional boring equipment to install underground utilities with precision and safety. Your expertise will help ensure efficient project completion while adhering to strict safety standards and construction regulations. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work on challenging projects that make a tangible impact on community infrastructure. Duties Operate underground directional boring machinery while being a foreman of the crew installing utilities such as fiber optic cable and conduit efficiently and accurately. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on construction machinery, including excavators, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Utilize utility locating tools and techniques to identify existing underground infrastructure before commencing boring operations. Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures diligently to maintain a safe work environment for all team members. Assist with excavation and construction grading tasks as needed, supporting the overall progress of utility installation projects. Maintain detailed records of equipment operation, maintenance activities, and project progress for accountability and reporting purposes. Collaborate closely with construction site teams to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and project specifications. Qualifications Proven experience in underground utility operations. Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on construction machinery is a plus. Valid driver's license is a must, plus with the ability to operate heavy-duty trucks is preferred. Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures essential for maintaining a safe work environment. Construction experience involving utility installation, grading, or directional boring is highly desirable. Ability to read technical drawings, maps, and blueprints related to underground utility projects. Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
