PURPOSE:

Perform duties to operate dozer in a safe and efficient manner to excavate, cut, fill, spread, clear, push and/or tow other construction equipment.

JOB DUTIES

Check all fluid levels at the beginning of engine startup for the day. Monitor gauges and fluid levels throughout the day of operation. Monitor the operation of equipment throughout the workday. Maintain an awareness of unusual noises or operations and bring any exceptions to the attention of the supervisor. Perform light mechanical adjustments and/or assist mechanic in performing repairs on assigned equipment. Assist with the lubrication and fueling processes of the dozer. Dozer operator must possess the ability to perform a variety of tasks. These may include clearing and grubbing, shaping subgrades, base materials, shoulders, slopes and haul roads, ripping rock, stripping and demolition at worksites. Operator must have the ability to make cuts in the area of known utilities without causing damage to the underground utility. Operator also must have the ability to operate the dozer in a manner to assure safety of personnel around equipment; especially exercising caution to prevent injury to equipment and personnel when operating on slopes and rough terrain. Dozer operator must also have the ability to operate and monitor the blade around structures, tools and other equipment so not to damage structures, tools or equipment. Operator must keep dozer and tracks in a clean and orderly condition. It is required that all safety and company rules/procedures are followed. Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE

Some use of reading and writing is required, as well as adding and subtracting of whole numbers. Must be able to follow and take instruction. Operator is required to use and read fixed gauges, instruments and similar devices.

EXPERIENCE
