Job Description

Natural Gas / Compressor Service Technician Greater Boston, MA Company and Industry Overview Consolidated Utilities Corporation (CUC), founded in 1997 and based in Hudson, MA, is looking for a Service Technician ready to help power the future of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) and Hydrogen (CH2) vehicle fueling. At CUC, you will be part of a small, agile team supporting public-access and private CNG stations across New England. Your work will directly affect station reliability, customer uptime, and the advancement of practical clean-energy solutions. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving problems, working in the field, and making a visible impact every day. Key Requirements We are looking for a mechanically minded problem-solver with commercial and/or industrial electrical/electronic experience and familiarity with PLC controls. CUC will provide equipment- and manufacturer-specific training, making this a strong opportunity for candidates who are ready to build specialized expertise in a growing field. Candidates should have some or all of the following qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical school or college training is a plus.
  • Three to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Military, Aircraft and/or Aviation Experience is also a plus.
  • PLC programming background/experience.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical issues in high-pressure gas systems or similar equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical and electronic faults, including shorts, open circuits, and ground faults.
  • Ability to troubleshoot motors and control systems.
  • Ability to work safely around high-pressure gases and high voltages/amperages.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Clean driving record across New England states (CT, MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT). Current or future ability to obtain a CDL-A with HazMat endorsement is a plus.
  • Ability to work in seasonal New England weather conditions.
  • Basic mechanic's tools, such as wrenches, sockets, and screwdrivers; diagnostic tools are a plus.

  • Strong workday planning and time-management skills. What You'll Do
  • Perform regular inspections of CNG stations and related equipment to keep systems operating safely and reliably.
  • Monitor and record station parameters, identify trends, and make timely corrections to support strong performance.
  • Help keep CNG station locations clean, safe, and professional by removing trash and litter, reporting weather- or vandalism-related damage, and supporting overall site appearance.
  • Repair, replace, and adjust malfunctioning equipment to restore proper operation and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, or repair electrical equipment, including wiring, panels, switchgear, meters, transducers, solenoids, actuators, lighting, monitors, and motors.
  • Inspect, maintain, adjust, or repair mechanical equipment, including compressors, engines, pumps, valves, intercoolers, aftercoolers, fans, heat exchangers, piping, tubing, fittings, filters, dryers, fasteners, and actuators.
  • Maintain the company-provided service vehicle so you are ready to respond in the field.

$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
