Heavy Equipment Operator Location:
Oakland, CA Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Associate III / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment, managing inventory, handling complex material movements, and supporting warehouse operations. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, extensive forklift and material handling experience, and a commitment to workplace safety. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Team Support Assist with supervising warehouse operations and coordinating daily workflow. Support project execution and ensure efficient and safe operations. Promote adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards. Forklift & Heavy Equipment Operation Safely operate sit-down forklifts and other heavy material-handling equipment. Operate a hostler vehicle within the yard to transfer materials between trucks, storage areas, and production areas. Load, unload, palletize, shrink-wrap, receive, and stage incoming and outgoing shipments. Load and unload flat racks, including rigging operations and use of top-pick forklifts. Safely unload lumber and other materials while preventing product damage. Perform crane-related material handling and railcar loading operations as needed. Inventory & Warehouse Operations Receive, inspect, unload, and verify inbound shipments for accuracy. Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment. Perform rigging, blocking, bracing, strapping, and tarping to secure loads. Transport materials to designated workstations and storage locations. Monitor inventory accuracy and maintain organized warehouse storage. Document transactions and promptly report damages, shortages, or discrepancies. Equipment Inspection & Maintenance Conduct daily pre-use inspections of forklifts, hostlers, and other equipment. Report maintenance, repair, or safety concerns immediately. Maintain equipment in accordance with company procedures. Documentation & Recordkeeping Photograph orders throughout the loading and shipping process. Upload required photos and documentation to shared company systems prior to container release. Maintain accurate inventory, shipping, receiving, and quality control records. Safety & Compliance Follow all company policies, OSHA regulations, and warehouse safety procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Support loss prevention efforts and safe material handling practices. Qualifications Proven warehouse and heavy equipment operating experience. Experience operating sit-down forklifts required. Experience with hostlers, top-pick forklifts, crane operations, railcar loading, and rigging strongly preferred. Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices and load securement procedures. Ability to read shipping documents, inventory records, and work orders. Basic computer skills for documentation and photo uploads. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry 50-70 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for extended periods.
Pay:
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour
