Job Overview Join our dynamic vegetation management and excavation team as a Heavy Equipment Lead Operator and take charge of operating and managing a fleet of essential heavy machinery on diverse construction sites. In this pivotal role, you will lead by example, ensuring the safe, efficient, and precise operation of equipment such as excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, and skid steer. Your expertise will drive project success while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties Operate a variety of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, horizontal drills, tankers, and paving machines with precision and safety. Lead and mentor other equipment operators on-site to promote best practices and safety protocols. Conduct pre-operation inspections to ensure machinery is in optimal working condition; perform routine maintenance checks. Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to plan equipment usage schedules aligned with project timelines. Ensure all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies; address any hazards or unsafe behaviors immediately. Assist in site setup and cleanup activities as needed; support logistical operations such as material hauling and site preparation. Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, maintenance records, and operational reports for accountability and efficiency tracking. Requirements Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Clean driving record and must be insurable. No DUI convictions. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Ability to pass a DOT physical/medical examination and meet all medical certification requirements. Must successfully complete any required medical screenings. Reliable, safety-focused, and able to operate equipment in compliance with all regulations.
