EXPERIENCED HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR - GRADING & EXCAVATION CDL CLASS A PREFERRED
Temecula, California Pay:
$28.00-$50.00/hour

This is not an entry-level position. Please make sure you actually meet the experience and driving requirements before submitting your résumé. We are a small, growing, non-union excavation and grading company looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator. Our work includes grading, excavation, trenching, drainage, slope work, demolition, horse properties, arena construction, de-rocking and site development throughout Southern California. We need someone who can safely and efficiently operate equipment, understands dirt work, thinks ahead and can work with minimal supervision.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have professional experience with: Rough and finish grading Establishing and maintaining grade/elevations Trenching Cutting and shaping slopes Excavation and site preparation Drainage, swales and water management Earthmoving and material handling Working safely around utilities, structures, fences and customers Applicants should have professional experience operating excavators, skid steers/CTLs, tractors, dozers and other equipment used for grading, excavation or demolition work. Experience with grade stakes, laser levels, rollers, compactors, box scrapers, Harley rakes, breakers, augers and other grading/excavation attachments is a plus. Experience with horse properties, arena construction and de-rocking is also a plus. Forklift, warehouse, yard or similar equipment experience alone does not qualify. We are looking for actual professional earthwork experience.
DRIVING / CDL REQUIREMENTS
Clean driving record required Valid, unrestricted California driver's license required — cannot be suspended, restricted or revoked Must be insurable to operate company vehicles California CDL Class A strongly preferred Heavy-equipment hauling experience strongly preferred Experience with gooseneck/equipment trailers, load securement, DOT requirements and vehicle inspections is a plus PAY $28.00-$50.00/hour DOE. Pay is based on demonstrated ability, experience and qualifications. The higher end of the range is for highly experienced operators who can independently grade, trench, cut slopes, perform excavation and drainage work, operate multiple machines, and have a CDL Class A with experience hauling heavy equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently Perform grading, excavation, trenching, slope work, drainage, demolition and site preparation Load and move material Load, unload and secure equipment when qualified Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance Work safely around utilities, structures, livestock, customers and other contractors Assist with general labor when needed Maintain clean and safe equipment and job sites Immediately communicate equipment, property or job-site problems Represent the company professionally
SCHEDULE / WORK CONDITIONS
Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays Typical start time around 7:00 a.m., depending on job location End times vary based on the day's work Overtime may be required Projects are throughout Southern California Occasional overnight travel may be required Must be comfortable working outdoors in heat, dust and varying conditions Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds Reliable transportation required Must be dependable, punctual and able to work independently
PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Qualified applicants will be subject to: Driving-record review Background verification Reference verification Work-authorization verification Drug screening In-person practical equipment skills test You will be required to operate equipment in person to demonstrate your actual experience, safety and proficiency. Pay level will be based in part on demonstrated ability, not simply what is listed on a résumé.
