Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with a minimum of 10 years of experience operating Dozers, Excavators, and Topcon GPS Machine control systems on a 3-year site development project. This is not a typical equipment operator position. We are looking for a highly skilled professional with advanced experience operating dozers and excavator, utilizing Topcon GPS Machine Control systems, establishing grades and elevations, reading construction plans, identifying discrepancies, and training other employees. The successful candidate will work directly under the owner and will play a critical role in the success of the project. This is a key position within the company and requires a high level of professionalism, accountability, leadership, and attention to detail. Underground utility knowledge would be considered a major asset to work on this project. Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of heavy equipment operating experience. Proficient in operating both dozers and excavators. Extensive experience with Topcon GPS Machine Control systems. Experience using Topcon Rover 2.0 Ability to set and maintain accurate grades and elevations. Ability to independently verify completed work. Ability to read and interpret grading plans, utility plans, and civil construction drawings. Ability to identify plan discrepancies, design errors, and field conflicts before they impact production. Strong understanding of site development, grading, drainage, and earthwork operations. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities Safely and efficiently operate dozers and excavators. Utilize Topcon GPS Machine Control systems to perform grading and excavation work. Set and maintain accurate grades and elevations. Verify completed work using a Topcon Rover 2.0 Read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Ensure all finished work meets project specification and tolerances. Communicate field issues, utility conflicts, and plan discrepancies to supervisors. Work closely with project management and field personnel to maintain production goals. Maintain a safe and productive work environment. Equipment Maintenance Requirements Operators are expected to take pride in their assigned equipment.
