Equipment Operator — Airport, Rail & Federal Projects HDD & Heavy Equipment | Full-Time |

Travel Required Start Date:

As soon as able — We have a full project backlog and no shortage of work ahead. $28-$38/hr Based on experience $25/day Per diem, out-of-town jobs 401(k) + Bonuses 401(k) @ 1 yr | Annual + referral bonus RG Tenney Electric is seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our dynamic team. If you know how to run a rig, read the ground, and get a bore or dig done right the first time, and you thrive in a challenging environment with opportunities for travel, we want to hear from you. At RG Tenney Electric, we pride ourselves on tackling every aspect of underground and heavy-equipment work. While we do a variety of local jobs, we specialize in large-scale infrastructure — including horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and underground utility installation, airport systems work, railroad and rail signal projects, and federal contract sites. You'll be running equipment on projects vital to safety and efficiency across multiple industries and across the country.

• Prevailing Wage on Federal Wor k: Davis-Bacon / prevailing wage rates paid on qualifying federal job sites, often above standard scale.

Overtime Pay :

1.5× your base rate for every hour worked over 40 in a workweek.

Travel Covered :

$25/day per diem on out-of-town jobs, plus full travel coverage — mileage/travel pay and hotel, both paid by RGTE.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

•

Proven Equipment Operating Experience :

Hands-on experience operating HDD rigs, excavators, loaders, or other heavy equipment on underground or utility work.

•

Bore Planning & Utility Locate Knowledge :

Ability to read and follow a bore plan, spot utility conflicts, and work safely around existing lines.

• Airport, Rail, or Underground Utility Knowledge (Preferred) : Experience on airfield, railroad/rail signal, or federal underground utility projects is a significant plus.

•

Valid Driver's License :

Clean driving record required; Class A CDL preferred.

•

Travel Required :

Not 100% travel, but this role requires travel to project sites across the country. You must be willing and able to travel frequently.

A strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols, including trench safety and traffic control.

Mechanical Aptitude :

Comfortable troubleshooting equipment issues and performing routine maintenance on the machine you run.

Team Player :

Collaborative mindset with the ability to take direction from a foreman and coordinate with the crew.
