The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy construction machinery, specifically hydraulic excavators, to perform excavation, grading, and utility work on various construction sites. This role is vital to ensuring efficient project progression, safety compliance, and high-quality workmanship. The ideal applicant will possess extensive experience in heavy equipment operation and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and maintenance protocols. Duties Operate hydraulic excavators with precision to perform excavation tasks, including trenching, digging, and material handling. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of construction machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Assist with construction grading activities to achieve accurate site elevations and contours. Support utility locating efforts to identify underground utilities before excavation begins. Collaborate with team members to execute construction utility work efficiently and safely. Follow all federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times. Operate additional heavy machinery such as dozers, backhoes, graders, loaders, and water trucks as needed for various site tasks. Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and site-specific protocols during daily operations. Experience Proven experience operating hydraulic excavators in a construction environment. Knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and troubleshooting. Familiarity with construction utility work, including utility locating techniques. Experience with other heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, and water trucks. Strong understanding of federal construction safety regulations and safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation. Construction site experience with a focus on excavation, grading, paving, and utility installation. Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery repair and routine maintenance. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team on complex projects requiring precise execution.
