Job Description
Granite Excavation is seeking a dependable and hardworking Laborer / Loader Operator to join our team. This position is based primarily at our excavation pit and yard and is responsible for assisting with daily operations, maintaining a clean and organized work area, operating loaders and other equipment as needed, and loading customer and company trucks safely and efficiently. Granite Excavation is a family-owned construction company based in Cascade, Idaho, with operations throughout the Boise and Emmett areas. We specialize in earthmoving, underground utilities, paving, and miscellaneous concrete structures for both public and private sector projects. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, have the ability to pass a pre-employment drug and background test. The applicant must demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and teamwork. Granite Excavation is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Primary Responsibilities Operate loaders and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Assist with loading customer and company trucks with aggregate materials. Perform general labor duties around the excavation pit and yard. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow directions from supervisors regarding daily tasks and priorities. Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs. Clean and fuel equipment as required. Assist with routine maintenance of equipment and the yard. Stockpile and organize materials as directed. Help with traffic flow and customer loading when necessary. Practice safe work habits and comply with all company safety policies. Assist other crews and departments as workload requires. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience operating loaders or other heavy equipment preferred. General labor or construction experience preferred. Valid driver's license required. CDL is a plus but not required. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and strong work ethic. Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge Safe operation of loaders and heavy equipment. Equipment inspection and basic preventative maintenance. Construction site and excavation pit safety practices. Working ConditionsPhysical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, lifting, and working around heavy equipment. Employees must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Environmental Conditions Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and uneven terrain. Employees may be exposed to noise, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards while following all required safety procedures. Mental Requirements Employees must remain alert while operating equipment and working around active jobsite traffic.
