Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and experienced CDL Operator - Transportation Equipment Operator to join our construction and infrastructure team. In this vital role, you will operate a variety of heavy-duty equipment and commercial trucks to support road construction, highway maintenance, and utility projects. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient, and timely execution of construction projects, adhering strictly to safety protocols and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale civil infrastructure developments while working outdoors in diverse environments. Your mechanical knowledge, hands-on skills with power tools, and commitment to safety will be key drivers of success in this role. Duties Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks to perform earthmoving, grading, paving, and utility installation tasks on construction sites. Drive and manage dump trucks and other commercial vehicles for transporting materials such as gravel, asphalt, and debris across project sites. Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance. Assist with road construction activities by performing tasks like paving, traffic control for work zones, and utility locating. Use hand tools and power tools for minor repairs or adjustments on machinery or site infrastructure as needed. Follow safety protocols diligently during all operations, including heavy lifting, working at heights, or in confined spaces. Support highway maintenance efforts by performing manual labor tasks such as heavy lifting, site cleanup, or installing signage. Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines. Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, inspections, and safety checks in compliance with company policies. Experience Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks in a construction environment. Valid CDL license with a clean driving record; experience driving dump trucks and commercial vehicles preferred. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations governing commercial truck operations and safety standards. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic repairs using hand tools or power tools. Prior work on construction projects or civil infrastructure roles is highly desirable. Strong understanding of road construction processes including paving, highway maintenance, utility installation, and traffic control measures. Outdoor work experience in various weather conditions with a focus on safety protocol adherence. Familiarity with welding techniques and utility locating is a plus.
