Snow Removal Team Member — Snowblower, Plow Truck & Skid Steer Operators Skyline Exteriors is hiring Snow Removal Team Members for the 2026-2027 winter season with a pathway to year-round employment. We are hiring people who can operate snowblowers, plow trucks, and skid steers safely and reliably during commercial and residential snow events across Chicago's North Shore and northwest suburbs. Strong performers may be absorbed into our year-round Landscape Team as a Landscape Team Member after the winter season. This is a field role for people who show up when the weather is difficult, follow the route plan, protect the client's property, and finish the work to standard. This is not limited to a seasonal contract: after winter, qualified team members may transition into Skyline's landscape operations team for spring, summer, and fall work.
Snow removal is time-sensitive:
the team must be ready for overnight, early morning, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts when conditions require it. What you will do Operate snowblowers, plow trucks, skid steers, and related snow-removal equipment according to your assigned role. Clear parking lots, drive lanes, sidewalks, entrances, service areas, and designated snowstorage areas. Follow route assignments, site maps, snow-push instructions, restricted-area instructions, and supervisor direction. Perform pre-shift equipment inspections and report safety, mechanical, fuel, lighting, or maintenance issues immediately. Operate equipment carefully around curbs, parked vehicles, structures, landscaping, sidewalks, loading areas, and pedestrian traffic. Apply salt or deicing materials when assigned and follow the property's treatment instructions. Communicate clearly with the crew lead, dispatcher, supervisor, and other operators during the route. Work safely in reduced visibility, freezing temperatures, active snowfall, ice, wind, and changing site conditions. Complete assigned work within the required service window and notify the supervisor immediately if a property cannot be completed as planned. Take required completion photos and report damaged equipment, property concerns, blocked access, or unsafe conditions before leaving the site. Maintain a professional presence on every client property. Clean, refuel, secure, and return equipment according to Skyline's end-of-shift process. Equipment specialties Snowblower Operator Operate walk-behind snowblowers or other assigned sidewalk-clearing equipment. Clear sidewalks, entrances, stairs, narrow walkways, and tight areas where trucks or larger machines cannot operate. Maintain safe spacing from pedestrians, vehicles, windows, doors, landscaping, and building surfaces. Coordinate with plow and skid steer operators so snow is moved to the approved locations. Plow Truck Driver Operate a plow truck and, when assigned, salt-spreading equipment. Clear designated lots, lanes, driveways, and access points according to the site plan. Use safe speeds and proper plow technique around curbs, vehicles, structures, islands, and drainage areas. Complete the required route and communicate any access, visibility, equipment, or site issue immediately. Skid Steer Operator Operate a skid steer, compact loader, or related machine for snow relocation and stacking. Push, load, relocate, and stack snow only in approved areas. Operate safely near buildings, curbs, vehicles, pedestrians, landscaping, drainage structures, and overhead hazards. Perform equipment checks and report any mechanical issue before continuing work. Required qualifications Must be at least 18 years old. Must be dependable and available during snow events, including overnight, early morning, weekend, and holiday shifts. Must be able to report to the Skokie headquarters or assigned route starting point on time. Must have reliable transportation to the reporting location. Must be able to work outdoors in winter weather for extended periods. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to communicate with supervisors and crew members by phone or text. Must be physically able to walk, stand, bend, lift, carry, and work on slippery or uneven surfaces. Must be willing to complete Skyline's safety and equipment orientation.
For plow truck roles:
valid driver's license and a clean enough driving record for companyapproval are required.
For skid steer roles:
prior skid steer, compact-loader, construction, landscaping, snow removal, or material-handling experience is preferred.
Pay:
$26.94 - $32.45 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
