Job Description

GFL Environmental is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate loaders, dozers, excavators, and compactors at our waste and recycling facilities. You'll manage waste and recyclable materials, support site logistics, load and unload trucks, and maintain clean, organized work areas. Responsibilities include daily equipment inspections, reporting issues, and following all safety, environmental, and company procedures. Responsibilities Operate loaders, dozers, excavators, and compactors to move and process waste and recyclables Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections and basic maintenance on equipment Follow all safety, environmental, and company operating procedures and PPE requirements Load and unload trucks and support site traffic flow and logistics Maintain clean, organized work areas and support housekeeping standards Communicate with supervisors and team members via radio and follow site instructions Report equipment issues, hazards, and incidents promptly Accurately complete basic logs or reports related to equipment and materials Required Skills Heavy equipment operation Equipment inspection and basic maintenance Knowledge of safety regulations and PPE use Load handling and material movement Reading site plans and instructions Two-way radio communication Time management Basic mechanical aptitude Recordkeeping and log documentation Environmental and waste-handling procedures
